well, they’re up, it wasnt easy but they’re up
ikea malm (i dominate ikea anymore) and fixed a shelf for heather in the east village on a rainy sunday.
some bookshelf repair/reinforcement and a magnetic knife holder thingy anchored to the wall for steph in nolita. not the most elegant fix/repair but it will hold and as you can see i cut myself so there’s no questioning my commitment. i also learned that there are at least 400 different types of soup in the world.
i can hook-up most standard audio/visual systems but i don’t really know anything about turntables, pre-amps, grounding hums and buzzes. luckily my friend max is a retired dj and he was kind enough to help me out with a job in brooklyn for stephanie. her system would blast static 15 mins into playing, we came prepared with an extra pre-amp (whatever that is) which fixed the issue.
quick move/removal from the village to soho for laura. 4 flights of stairs was the only issue. needed to bring in nick (again) for the maitress (and i can’t spell, thanks rebecca), dresser and boxspring moving.
Quick couch removal tonight for Megan, it was a sleeper and 3 flights but thankfully Nick was willing to provide the assist. Movers quoted her $300 but we did it for Sierra (and Nick doesn’t even really like Sierra). Please note the 40s of Sierra!!
window blinds and a wall shelf…..my anchor game is legit now.
“Ian gamely agreed to help my roommate and I out with some “quick” home improvements on a Sunday before heading to the bar for the NFL semi-finals. He showed up in his tattoo t-shirt, with no idea what he was in for. Fast forward four hours and he was still hard at work, determined to finish the job. He overcame several obstacles - including the time our “drill” turned out to be an electric screwdriver and me mis-reading some shelf directions. It took some blood, sweat, and beers but Rent a Gent delivered. The blinds are still up, the shelf totally makes the room, and we had a pretty good time too.”
i paint
“Ian was great. He came over to help me paint the walls in my new apartment. There is no way I could’ve done it without his knowledge of room painting and his help reaching all the high up spots that I was too short for. I expected the project to only take a few hours, but instead it took 5 and he was a great sport about it — working hard until the end and everything was perfect and keeping up conversation along the way. He was a perfectionist and my room now looks great! I’d recommend (and have recommended) Rent-A-Gent to any of my friends.”
